UNGA'nın (Birleşmiş Milletler Genel Kurulu) 1977 yılında görevlendirilmesinden sonra her yıl 8 Mart Dünya Kadınlar Günü olarak kutlanmaktadır.
Başlangıcından bu yana, Uluslararası Kadınlar Günü, kapsayıcılık, cinsiyet eşitliği ve kadın hakları konuşmaları gibi daha geniş söylemlere dikkat çekmek için bir forum olarak hizmet vermeye devam ediyor.
